It’s an effective vehicle for new customers to find you, for you to communicate your brand story and is a means to connect with your customers.
These great results don’t just happen, though.
I already tried that. I’d thoughtlessly post photos because I felt guilty for not posting in several days. Most of my posts were pushing for sales rather than connecting with my audience.
My account was stagnant and produced pathetic results.
I decided to commit to Instagram. After researching, testing and tweaking, I found an effective strategy.
In the video below I’m sharing 25 tips for growing your Instagram following. They’re all tested strategies and have produced consistent growth and engagement.

Which of these tips was a totally new idea to you that you’ll be implementing this week?
Thanks so much for these helpful tips! My favorite is giving your feed a cohesive look with theme or color palette. I know when someone has a cohesive aesthetic with planned posts I’m much more likely to follow them.
So true! When I find a feed that I choose to follow, I like to analyze what it is about that feed that is attracting me to it. It’s usually a cohesive look.
Wow what a fabulous post ! I’ve upped my hashtag game after watching this ! And love you blouse !
Thanks, Clare. Hashtags really do help if you have a strategy behind them. Isn’t that bow fun?! It’s from Banana Republic.
Great post! I was in the same boat last year! I grew my IG by 4K just by being strategic and knowing how to take better quality photos! It’s been so awesome to see it grow!
That are great results, Christina! Hope to get there with my own profile within the next few months.
Thanks for this! I’ll be trying a number of the tips you mentioned, such as, changing out website address with mailing list link at times. I think I also need to do more research to try and figure out where my potential customers are hanging out. Have you ever felt like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole as you start at one hashtag or page and spiral out from there in search of where your clients may be?! Cause I have, ha ha!!
You’re welcome! Yes, hashtags are definitely a rabbit hole. I spend some time collecting hashtags into a spreadsheet with the number of posts in a separate column. Then I sort by the number of posts and create groups that fit the criteria of 50,000 to 200,000 posts. Also helps me decide with ones to rotate out and which to keep.
So many great tips! I’ve recently seen an increase in activity because I improved my photo quality, but wasn’t sure how to keep the momentum going. I’m definitely going to try engaging more with followers (and potential followers).
For finding quality hashtags, do you recommend any tools (like websta.me) ?
Photo quality makes a huge difference. I haven’t tried websta. I usually start by looking at what other companies are using that have a similar target customer. Then I go down the rabbit hole by clicking on a hashtag and seeing what other hashtags Instagram lists as “related” at the top of the hashtag feed.
How did you know I was seriously considering dusting off my Instagram account? This is exactly what I needed right now! 🙂
So glad it has been useful for you!
